Manor Bakeries and Lloyd Fraser take delivery of new Mercedes Benz Axor's.
February 28, 2004--Manor Bakeries and Lloyd Fraser are delighted to take the keys for their new fleet of Mercedes Benz Axor tractor units. These will replace the existing fleet and will significantly affect the performance of the logistics operation.
Lloyd Fraser who recently won the Manor Bakeries contract in a competitive pitch are delighted with the new tractor units. Tim Williams (General Manager Lloyd Fraser Contracts) said "we spent a number of months evaluating a selection of tractor units before making the decision on the Axor's, we found that the Mercedes fuel economy was better than the others we looked at and it also had a number of technological advantages for the driver. The Mercedes really gives us the flexibility that a contract like Manor Bakeries requires."
Forty-One trucks were acquired and will be based at the Carlton, Eastleigh, Rugby and Stoke distribution centres.
Lloyd Fraser are a supply chain specialist and currently work with some of the biggest brands in the country. Joint Managing Director Philip Bincliffe said " the strategic goal for Lloyd Fraser over the next few years is to increase our visibility within our core markets in the UK. We are currently investing heavily in our IT and supply chain infrastructure and are very confident of the group's continued development. Our involvement within the purchasing decision for the trucks highlights the relationship we have with our customers."
